Sharon Hill Public Library Completes Successful Year of Multicultural Literature Programs with Grant from the Library Foundation of Delaware County
We are excited to share that the Sharon Hill Public Library has successfully completed a series of vibrant multicultural literature programs, made possible by a generous grant from the Library Foundation of Delaware County. Over the past year, the library has been a hub of cultural celebration, bringing diverse stories to life for the community through engaging events, author visits, and educational experiences.
Among the year’s highlights was our Author Visits, which offered readers the opportunity to engage with writers from a variety of cultural backgrounds. These events sparked meaningful conversations and allowed participants to explore literature from perspectives they may not have encountered before.
Our Book Talks drew in passionate readers eager to discuss multicultural narratives. These lively discussions fostered a deeper understanding of diverse cultural experiences and the importance of representation in literature.
The “Magic in Books” program brought storytelling to life with captivating magic tricks that enchanted both children and adults. Through the magic of books, attendees experienced the wonders of imagination and storytelling in a whole new way.
A standout event, “Jazz in Books”, celebrated the life and legacy of Trombone Shorty, blending live jazz music with readings from literature inspired by his journey. This program not only honored a cultural icon but also showed how music and books can beautifully intertwine to tell a story.
The Multicultural Book Fair was another resounding success, offering a wide selection of books from around the globe. Families and readers of all ages had the chance to discover new authors and stories that reflected the rich diversity of the world.
Our Story House program was a hit with families, where children gathered to hear culturally rich stories in a welcoming and interactive environment. Additionally, our Morning Visits from neighborhood daycare centers provided young children and their parents with opportunities to enjoy diverse stories, fostering early literacy and cultural awareness.
We are deeply grateful to the Library Foundation of Delaware County for their continued support, which has been instrumental in making these programs a reality. Their generous funding allowed us to offer these enriching experiences and strengthen our community’s connection to multicultural literature.
We look forward to building on the success of these programs and continuing to celebrate diverse voices at the Sharon Hill Public Library. Thank you to the Library Foundation of Delaware County for helping us make a lasting impact!
